You are invited to contribute to Tasteful Rude! Please look at our published work to get a sense of our aesthetic and politics. We strive to channel Edward Saïd’s commitment to freedom. He wrote that “there must be critical consciousness if there are to be issues, problems, values, even lives to be fought for… Criticism must think of itself as life-enhancing and constitutively opposed to every form of tyranny, domination, and abuse; its social goals are noncoercive knowledge produced in the interests of human freedom.” We publish reviews, short essays, long essays, news reports, criticism of all types, the occasional bit of memoir, food as culture, and experimental works.

Compensation for pieces varies according to length and other concerns.
